GENERAL INFORMATION

Our staff, headed by our Manager, Sandra Turner, have specialised training in many areas of child care and education, and are encouraged to further their own qualifications, to the benefit of the children.  They aim to provide equality of opportunity for all members of our group, and this includes children with special needs.  We operate in accordance with the governments Code of Practice for special needs education.  All our staff follow the stringent rules and regulations that are set out by Ofsted.

We are in receipt of nursery education funding for 3 and 4 year olds; where funding is not received, then fees will apply.

Within the group, all children are supported in developing their potential at their own pace. Our key person system enables us to ensure a planned curriculum tailored to the needs of each individual child.  By means of developmentally appropriate play activities, and a high level of individual adult input, we offer a curriculum which enables children to move from ‘Birth to Three’, to the Foundation Stage and progress towards the Early Learning Goals.  This prepares them for the National Curriculum, which begins at Year 1 in Primary School.

THE ROLE OF PARENTS

Kingswood Pre-School recognises parents as the first and most important educators of their children. Our pre-school aims to support parents.

·     Parents are always welcome to visit the group. New parents are invited to attend a pre-school session with their child two or three weeks before the child starts pre-school.

·     The parents of pre-school children form the main body of the Kingswood Pre-school Committee.

·     Parents/carers are an invaluable source of help for fund-raising.

·     Parents can attend open meetings, training courses and workshops held by the Pre-school Learning Alliance.

It is important for parents and pre-school staff to work together to help your child feel confident and secure in the group.  We have a settling in policy and parents should not feel worried if their child takes a while to settle.
